Final Assignment

I am going to address how radio stations can use social media to promote themselves. I am going to focus on The Bert Show. This is a radio talk show on Q 100 in Atlanta. It is on from 5 am to 10 am Monday through Friday.

First, The Bert Show has their own website. It has current and past show stories listed. The website has a place on their homepage to direct viewers to their Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Google+, Pinterest, and Instagram. The Bert Show has full access to all types of social media.

Q 100 even has an application for iPhone owners. This app lets Q 100 listeners have access to the radio station at all times.

They also have a Facebook page. They use this page to connect with listeners. The Bert show members will post comments and stories for feedback from listeners. They will sometimes even reference someone or something from their Facebook page on the radio during the Bert show.

They also have a Twitter account. It is used for most of the same reasons that their Facebook page is used for. The Bert show and the radio station uses Twitter a lot to take song requests from listeners.

Q 100 and The Bert  Show also have their own YouTube Channel and their own blog. Both of these are used by viewers to get information that they missed  listening to the show. The Bert Show does a wonderful job of using social media to stay connected to listener and fans.

I found a website that gives tips on how radio stations can use social media to better benefit themselves better. The article talks about how most stations have a Twitter and Facebook page but aren’t using it to the best of their ability. It says that the station should have specific goals set to achieve through social media.  It also talks about how radio stations should use their Facebook and Twitter pages to get listeners more engaged. I think that Q 100 does a great job of this already.

Here is a screencast I made about how The Bert Show is using social media to connect with listeners. I will take you to their website and show you how they use that to promote following them on other social media sites. I will then take you to their Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube pages. I will talk about what each page is for and how they use them.

Here is a screencast on how to get started on Facebook... go like The Bert Show. This will be a step-by-step video on how to sign up for Facebook. I will actually create a new account so you will know exactly what to expect.

I feel like The Bert Show will do great in the future. They have a ton of listeners and a lot of followers on all of their social media pages. I feel like if they keep up with the ever changing world of social media and keep interacting with their listeners that they will always do well in the radio business.

This screencast is about how to make a screencast on Mac. Showing this via screencast is very straight forward and shows you what to do. You do not have to write down directions to how to do it if it were from a written instructions. By viewing this video you get step-by-step instructions and are able to see how it is done at the same time.

Disney Movies

I created a fan page of Facebook. I love Disney movies and I still watch them to this day. Sometimes seeing a quote from a good Disney movie can make my day a whole lot better. I made a page so other Disney movie fans can share what they love about Disney movies. It will be great to hear from others on their favorites!

Here is a link to the page!
